After the 1-Year Self-Mastery Program 2017-2018

I am happy I joined this program. Being on this journey was like holding a mirror in front of myself all the time and looking at the person I was avoiding the most (myself). It was not easy at first, but eventually it turned out to be very empowering and inspiring.

HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR WAY TO THE SELF-MASTERY PROJECT?

Going back to my earliest memories, I always remember refusing what was dictated to me, questioning everything fearlessly, which was not accepted or left unanswered by parents, teachers, adults, … eventually by religion & society. I refused to live in fear of others’ (society, religion, culture) expectations & that’s what fueled me to keep looking. Going through life challenges & events, I realized that I was looking for my answers in the wrong places. I kept seeking answers through others and every time I would come out of a situation feeling more confused than before. 4 years ago, I was introduced to the vast world of “Self-Knowledge” & since then I have been discovering & experiencing different modalities. This time, with the Self-Mastery Project, things started to make sense. I learnt that I can find the answers to my questions within myself. This understanding relieved me from the burden of self-judgement & control, but at the same time it made me more eager to go further. I met Usha less than 2 years ago & her teaching methods resonated with me. I felt comfortable in her presence! Joining the Self-Mastery program was not an easy decision to make considering that it’s a 1 full year commitment. I decided to challenge myself & enrolled in the program at the very last moment & I’m very happy that I did so.

Now I’m among a circle of supporting friends that witnessed my struggle & growth without any judgments. It’s the safest place/space where I can be me.

WHAT WERE THE MAIN 3 TAKEAWAYS FROM BEING IN THE SELF-MASTERY PROJECT?

The first takeaway is being able to identify the core feeling when I’m facing a challenge, which makes the whole process easier and enables me to go through it with confidence. Second is learning about human’s energy fields and Chakras and how they work, and learning how to work with them in order to improve/heal physical/emotional conditions. Third is being introduced to yoga and experiencing the positive impacts of it on both physical and emotional levels.

What made me commit to this program was the relief I felt each time the pain and exhaustion of being stuck in a situation/feeling for some time was released through the process work that was happening throughout the year.

HOW WAS THE YOGA EXPERIENCE AND TEACHING STYLE?

I was able to see why Yoga is an important part of the Self-Mastery program. Yoga was the way that I could put all what I have learnt during the self-mastery classes into practice and connect with it. Also it was really needed to stay connected with the group between the modules and to have the space to review and share experiences.

I liked how my body became more flexible and relaxed after practicing yoga and pranayama. The synchronization between the moves, breathing and meditation was very powerful.

The Yoga teaching style was very smooth and effective. Since I have never practiced yoga before enrolling in this program I would say that it did completely change my mind.

HOW WAS THE FACILITATION OF THE PROGRAM?

I was able to connect and relate easily. Usha’s style of teaching and delivering the information was very effective. I enjoyed the classes very much.

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE LEARNING IN A GROUP? WAS YOUR PRIVACY HAMPERED IN ANY WAY?

I loved being among a group of people sharing the same interest and benefiting from each other’s experiences. Sharing the situation & the emotions with the group made easier for me to reflect on my feelings and thoughts. It helped me see different perspectives to the issues or feelings I was dealing with. My privacy was not threatened at any point of time. Not at all. There is no pressure to share if one is not ready or willing to share.

IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE MASTERED YOURSELF?

I feel I am not able to keep my inner peace and calmness while going through life’s challenges. It was worth the journey, especially after coming back and realizing I was living in a bubble and refusing to get out of my comfort zone. Realizing how my ego was playing out all the time and how I have given up my will power to my mind. Today, I understand my feelings and emotions better, the way I act and react. Communication is one of the biggest areas of improvement for me. I express myself easier and connect better to other people.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND SELF-MASTERY TO OTHERS?

Yes I would. To whom is the question. I think I’d recommend it to whomever is struggling with repeated patterns and life events and wants to learn how to break the cycle; whomever is seeking to find their purpose in life & how to fulfill it; those who are willing to make peace with their past & move forward in their life carrying only the lessons from their past events.

Being on this journey was like holding a mirror in front of myself all the time and looking at the person I was avoiding the most (myself). At the beginning it wasn’t easy to look and accept what I was seeing, but eventually it turned out to be very empowering and inspiring.
